Back in Copenhagen, again.

There is nothing quite like your first love (in Europe).

Everyone remembers their first love.

It probably happened a long time ago.

This was taken 8 years ago in 2009, when I was probably 8 kg lighter.

For some, it might have been just a short-lived crush. But for many, it lasted for a few years.

Because for some reason, you kept coming back for more…

And more…

And more.

Until one day you got into a huge fight with them that cracked the perfect image that you’ve had of them all these years.

Don’t be fooled by my happy face. On that day, exactly one year ago, I was treated horribly and contemptuously by a US Embassy officer AND I got fined a hefty sum of money for forgetting to check in to the Metro because I was so angry at the #*%(*@ officer.

Even though you have realised by now that there may not be a future for both of you together and you are happy with someone else, there is something about seeing them again that always makes you feel excited.

And when you do see them, you are reminded just why you fell for them in the first place.

They were beautiful…

I mean, just look at THAT.

And were pretty much the reason why you want to explore the world even more and push you to be who you are today: an insatiable traveller.

And perhaps an insatiable Danish pastries monster.

After all, there is no one quite like your first love: probably not quite the right one for you, but utterly unforgettable.

Happy (belated) Valentine’s Day everyone!

  1. I liked your pictures but loved the one of you in the striped dress indoors. It’s a very nice photo of you.
