Kuala Lumpur, this time.

Kuala Lumpur, we often rubbed each other the wrong way.

Five years ago, we met after a very long time and I was frustrated by the chaos of your traffic and the craziness of your city. Which was ironic because I came from the city with probably the worst traffic condition in the world. Needless to say, it was partly my fault – I was too pampered after living in the orderly Singapore for a year, where everything works the way it should.

Last year, I travelled far for you, for a festival that got cancelled the moment I arrived after a six-hour bus ride. Not to mention that my bus broke down for three hours in the middle of nowhere on my way back to Singapore. If not for my company at the time, it was probably my worst trip ever.

So I have to be honest. I was not looking forward to seeing you again last week.

But this time, you surprised me. This time, you were gorgeous.

First attempt at wedding photography.

By the way, I’m still alive.

I did not fall into depression or anything post five weeks in Europe as I had expected. I’m alive and kicking, just sorting a lot of things back home after being away for more than a month.

I still have a few posts unfinished about my trip and a lot that I have not started yet. But I will give you a little break from me yapping about Europe and show you one of the things that I was busy with after coming back.

A few weeks before I left for Europe I agreed to help my friend shot some pictures on her wedding day. I had to say it did not go quite as planned as I found out on the day that the zoom button on my camera was broken. Coupled with the fact that I had zero people photography skills and no idea how to do the settings in my camera, they were really signing up for a disaster by asking me to do a favour.

Well, the raw pictures did turn out to be some kind of a disaster. But coming back from Europe kind of gave me a renewed sense of creativity and hope that I suddenly had this urge to try salvaging the pictures using some of the most basic photo editing apps I could find in Windows App Store.

The results: I have to say I am rather pleased with myself. Since I’m probably not going to branch out into a career in photography, let me show you some of the before and after pictures and how Adobe Photoshop Express has basically saved my life and made my friends’ day.

(I have to say it was a good thing that both my friends were good looking people who could pose naturally. I think half of the reason why they could still turn out well is due to their happy faces!)

A beautiful wedding.

So here is the deal: I did not go to Bali just to eat, as this post and this post seem to have suggested.

Instead, I was there to attend a wedding, a very beautiful one if I may add.

It may not have started perfectly. It rained heavily and the venue for the vows had to be moved from a beautiful spot by the beach to a sheltered open hut. (And I arrived extremely late that I missed the saying of the vows, but the bride and groom do not have to know this. For a valid reason though since my hairdresser was an hour late!). But as the afternoon and the night progressed, it just got better.

After the ceremony, there were cocktails and canapes, which were amazing. I did not even know what cocktails I had and did not bother asking, but they were really good and the appetizers tasty. Not much good picture from the first part and this was the best one that I got.

After that came my favourite part: the wedding reception. It was set in a beautiful tent with a row of 6 tables (I think), each table decorated with beautiful flower arrangement. The whole setup together with the fairy lights surrounding it created a very dreamy atmosphere.
